In 2019, the Pawnee Ridge Homeowners Association embarked on an ambitious project to transform our neighborhood park into a modern, vibrant community space. The revitalization effort then and over the next few years, has brought a host of new features and upgrades, making the park a more enjoyable and functional area for all residents. Here’s a look at the remarkable changes that have taken place:
Playground Revamp
One of the most significant updates involved the playground. The old equipment, which had originally been sourced from the former drive-in theater in Sterling, was largely replaced. While we retained the beloved merry-go-round, the park now boasts a range of new, modern features including:
- A Modern Swing Set: Offering enhanced safety and comfort for children of all ages.
- Standing Merry-Go-Round: A fun, updated version that complements the classic playground fixture.
- Overhead Climber: Adding a new dimension of play and challenge for the kids.
In a generous gesture, Logan County provided us with a toddler playground that had been in storage for several years. This new addition, acquired for just $0.01, is a wonderful asset for our younger residents. The playground area itself was expanded by approximately 120%, providing more space for kids to play and explore.
Basketball Court Enhancements
The basketball facilities received a major upgrade, making them more appealing and functional. Key improvements include:
- New Basketball Backboards and Breakaway Rims: These modern upgrades enhance the playing experience and safety.
- Full Resurfacing and Striping: The court was completely resurfaced and now features vibrant basketball graphics, adding to the court's appeal and usability.
Parking Lot Improvements
To accommodate more visitors and enhance safety, the parking lot underwent a significant transformation:
- Expansion by 300%: The parking lot size was dramatically increased, providing ample space for all park-goers.
- New Lighting: A bright, new light was installed over the parking lot, improving visibility and security.
- Repainted Posts: The posts framing the parking lot were painted to match the core colors of the park, contributing to a cohesive and attractive look.
Refreshing Existing StructuresSeveral existing park structures also received a much-needed refresh:
- Merry-Go-Round and Picnic Tables: The old merry-go-round was sandblasted and repainted to match the new equipment, while all picnic tables were similarly sandblasted and repainted.
- Pavilion: The pavilion was sandblasted and repainted, enhancing its appearance and durability.
- Utility Shed: The utility shed got a makeover with new siding, a new roof, and a new door, ensuring it complements the overall park aesthetic.
These extensive improvements reflect the HOA’s commitment to creating a more engaging and user-friendly environment for our community.
